Membership fees

What are the membership fees?

In terms of the constitution, every member, other than an Honorary Fellow, shall be liable for an entry fee and for an annual subscription.

How to join

Applications for Associate Membership

  1. Study the definitions of classes of corporate membership presented above and ensure that you meet the requirements for the class of membership you wish to apply for.
  2. Find two persons who are accredited Members or Fellows of SAIEG and who are prepared to act as Supporters of your Associate Membership application.
  3. Provide each of your supporters with a confidential Supporters Form (see below for download) and ask them to complete them and submit them directly to the Council. Follow up to ensure that these forms are submitted.
  4. Complete FORM A (see below for download).
  5. Submit the completed FORM A to the Council.
  6. Together with FORM A submit certified copies of certificates of your relevant degrees and diplomas and qualifications to the Council.

  2. Find three persons who know you well professionally, who are familiar with your career and achievements, and who are accredited Members or Fellows of SAIEG and who are prepared to act as Supporters of your Membership application.
  3. Provide each of your supporters with a confidential Supporters Form (see below for download) and ask them to complete them and submit them directly to the Council. Follow up to ensure that these forms are submitted.
  4. Complete FORM A (see below for download).
  5. Submit the completed FORM A to the Council.
  6. Together with FORM A submit certified copies of certificates of your relevant degrees and diplomas and qualifications to the Council.
  7. Also submit proof of your professional registration as a Natural Scientist in terms of Act No. 55 of 1982 together with FORM A.

Applications for Technologist Membership

  1. Study the definitions of classes of corporate membership presented above and ensure that you meet the all the requirements for the class of membership you intend to apply for.
  2. Find three persons who know you well professionally, who are familiar with your career and achievements, and who are accredited Members or Fellows of SAIEG and who are prepared to act as Supporters of your Technologist Membership application.
  3. Provide each of your supporters with a confidential Supporters Form (see below for download) and ask them to complete them and submit them directly to the Council. Follow up to ensure that these forms are submitted.
  4. Complete FORM A (see below for download).
  5. Submit the completed FORM A to the Council.
  6. Together with FORM A submit certified copies of certificates of your relevant degrees and diplomas and qualifications to the Council.
  7. Also submit proof of your professional registration as a Natural Science Technologist in terms of Act No. 106 of 1993 together with FORM A.

Applications for Fellowship

  1. Study the definitions of classes of corporate membership presented above and ensure that you meet the requirements for the class of membership you intend to apply for.
  2. Find three persons who know you well professionally, who are familiar with your career and achievements and who are prepared to act as Supporters of your Fellowship application. Two of these must be accredited Fellows and one an accredited Member of the Institute.
  3. Provide each of your supporters with a confidential Supporters Form (see downloads below) and ask them to complete them and submit them directly to the Council. Follow up to ensure that these forms are submitted.
  4. Complete FORM A (see below for download).
  5. Submit the completed FORM A to the Council.
  6. Together with FORM A submit certified copies of certificates of your relevant degrees and diplomas and qualifications to the Council.
  7. Also submit proof of your current professional registration as a Natural Scientist in terms of Act No. 55 of 1982 or as a Natural Science Technologist in terms of Act No. 106 of 1993 together with FORM A.

Retired membership

If you are a Corporate Member of SAIEG and if you no longer practice the profession of engineering and/or environmental geology you may apply in writing to the Council for Retired Membership status. Your name will remain on the Roll of the Institute and your status will be Retired Member.

Applications for Affiliate Membership

  1. Study the definitions of classes of corporate membership presented above and ensure that you meet the requirements for the class of membership you wish to apply for.
  2. Find two persons who are accredited Members or Fellows of SAIEG and who are prepared to act as Supporters of your Affiliate Membership application.
  3. Complete FORM B (see below for download) and get your supporters to verify required information and by initialing the relevant paragraphs on the form.
  4. Submit the completed FORM B to the Council together with a letter stating the reasons why you wish to become a non-corporate member of the Institute.


Resignations

If you decide to resign from the Institute you may do so by submitting a written resignation to the Council together with any moneys due by you. Your name will be removed from the Roll of the Institute. At the discretion of the Council you may be re-admitted to membership on payment of such fees as the Council may determine.
