SAIEG presents a two-day seminar on Construction Materials:

The first day will consist of a series of lectures to familiarise delegates with basic concepts regarding the engineering geological appraisal of construction materials.  Presentations will focus on introducing concepts such as the requirements of materials for low volume, unpaved road layer works.  Current aggregate research that is being conducted in South Africa will be presented.  We will also discuss legislative requirements for the proclamation of new quarries and borrow areas.  The day will conclude with specific requirements for concrete and asphalt aggreagate.

The second day will consist of additional lectures on deleterious minerals in aggregates and will conclude with a filed trip to two quarries near the airport.
