The history book has been created to document key events that preceded and ultimately led to the establishment of the South African Institute of Engineering and Environmental Geologists (SAIEG). It also highlights the significant role that SAIEG has played and continues to play in the field of engineering and environmental geology.
The purpose of this document is to explain the reasons for SAIEG’s existence, how the Institute was founded, and how it evolved to become a learned society.
Today, SAIEG operates as a Voluntary Association under the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP), representing registered engineering and environmental geologists in South Africa.
